What interests me is that the video recorder recorded 18 hours of static This is one of my favorite films that I rewatch at least once a year

In the words of Arthur C Clarke..." two possibilities exist. Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying".

one of my all-time favorite movies! Jodi Foster was the perfect casting for this role.

The end was very clear, there was hours of video that was just white noise but there was hours of it, not instant. He did good with that.

Don't forget that in the book, five people travel in the pod, not one. They all corroborated the story as each one of them was visited by a dead loved one, taken from their memories while asleep.

I loved this movie the first time I saw it but over time it has become one of my absolute favorite films. It’s both physically, beautiful and deeply moving. Even when it came out, I was so tired of science fiction focusing on hideous aliens and threatening encounters, and ignoring how the same special effects could be used to awe and inspire us. The line that invariably moves me to tears is where Ellie says “They should have sent a poet.”

Where I lived, the Cosmos series was on Saturday night at 8PM. I went roller skating from 4-7, mom would pick me up and we made sure to be home by 8. Some of my best memories. PBS was wonderful.

Sagan didn’t invent the Encyclopedia Galactica. That was Issac Asimov in the Foundation Series.

There are two scenes where Elle picks up some sand in the beach scene and at the end of the movie in the desert. The sand sparkles in both scenes revealing what appears to be the Pleadies star system.
