When he said "expensive" I was expecting like $100... 3000 yen is about $20. For a completely handmade fan. That's not expensive.

3000 yen is not expensive if you are making these yourself. It would be expensive if they are mass produced with fully automatic machines

私は丸亀市のうちわミュージアムで職人さんがうちわづくりを実演しているのを見ましたが（丸亀もうちわが有名）、作っているところを見ると、とってもリーズナブルに感じでおみやげに複数個買いました。やはり作業の存在を感じられると価値マシマシになります。

Fantast to see old methods still used, as the owner says they do need ti inform more people of the amount of hands on work that is involved in making a fan. No robots, no plastic, no metal. Handmade with natural products.
