Chappell was signed to a label, released Pink Pony Club and when it didn't do well enough they dropped her. She had to move back home and do a couple different jobs like working at a coffee shop. I'm so thankful she didn't give up! ❤

you guys asked where has she been, she's been doing this for about 9 years!

it's just like with Sabrina Carpenter, it looks like a sudden viral rise to fame, but it's really a slow burn of working hard for a long time. Sabrina has talked about how she's fortunate that it was a slow rise because she had time to learn and grow. ❤

Just want to add as a Midwesterner, in the song California when she says “I miss the seasons of Missouri, my dying town” she’s not only referring to the seasons there. It’s a region with a lot of small, slow, “dying” communities where people move away from lack of opportunities. I love this lyric because she’s expressing homesickness for a place so many people including herself have been eager to leave.

Can we also just talk about how Dan Nigro is an absolute genius at sniffing out new talent. He produced Chappel’s, Olivia’s and Conan’s debut albums and they are all fucking fantastic. He sensed talent with all 3 of them and was spot on with it.
