  The matriarchal society is an interesting reflection of the sexual dimorphism displayed in species of birds of prey. Female Eagles, Owls and Hawks are significantly larger than their male counterparts.

  Fun fact, the jackals were the first alien species from the covenant encountered by humans on the planet harvest. A jackal pirate ship was boarded by Sergeant Johnson, where they were promptly engaged. 🎉

  On Jackals speaking English. When 5 roled around I just figured Jackals were still speaking their native language. It was the Spartan&apos;s armor that was doing the translating.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD3ONIT0OdA&amp;t=3756">1:02:36</a> I cant believe I didnt see this until now, the Infinite Jackals to me dont seem to be bobbing their heads, but rather they&apos;re doing that thing where birds lock their head in place and their body moves around below them to keep it perfectly still, something I imagine is really useful as a sniper

  I think them speaking a human language is really representative of their pirate/mercenary survival tactics. Humanity conquered the covenant they knew, and stopped the Flood - learning the language of their &quot;enemy&quot; would allow them to be hired or work alongside that powerful enemy. <br><br>Jackals can be petty, but they can also recognize who is more of a threat to them, and therefore snuggle up to, or have a way to get their foot in the door.
