“Sometimes I forget what I bought.” 😂😂 I can relate. Now, I print out every receipt then check them off when they arrive.

The pin reads "Cambria County Sesquicentennial, Brothers of the Brush, August 15-21, 1954" commemorating the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Brothers of the Brush - just shy of five months from the establishment of Cambria County, PA (which was actually created on March 26, 1804). I believe the Brothers of the Brush was a house painters guild in the tradition of the Masons.

The giant safety pin is for wool skirts or kilts.

I bought a junk drawer & there was a Bob Dylan badge / pin in it from a movie he made which was due to show in Australia. It said the name of the film & “Valhalla” which was the name of the theatre. Bob cancelled, so not many were made .
I sold it to a lady in Norway who is a Dylan collector. Valhalla means heaven in Norse . So that pin has gone from the bottom of the world to the top, to someone who loves it & has 2 connections to it when it shouldn’t even exist really 😁

To be fair it is called a junk lot for a reason. Can't be too upset when that's what it turns out to be. Also you can't always assume the seller is the one who damaged an item

The worst seller I've encountered was who accepted my offer for a lot but sent me less items. The missing items were exactly the items I was interested in.
I don't know what happened, the seller accepted the price and then regretted when going through the lot??? Or maybe they thought I wouldn't bother to return a $10 order?
I was beyond speechless for the situation.

Throw the spoon one more time, and you'll feel better. 😅

There are certain times when you don't want to ask questions...like if you see something worth the asking price and don't want to tip your hand.
You don't want to seller to see that the $100 item is worth $500 and cancel.
Otherwise ask questions.

I agree that testing for silver or gold shouldn't ruin the object, there are better ways to test. That's too bad. It's a fun junk lot, though. You could probably get $15 each for the Super Bowl coins, recouping your money, and resell some of the other objects together as a junk drawer lot. It's a fun, eclectic batch. I love the "key to success", and the random mysterious pins. The roadrunner belt buckle might be attractive to a southwestern collector.
