  When the World Trade Center towers in NY were attacked, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II had the Cold Stream Guards play the Star Spangled Banner for the American tourists stranded in your country for the 1st time in history. That was so moving for us all! May she rest in peace 🙏

  When I was in bootcamp our drill instructor told us that when you see the flag moving on a flag pole that its not being moved by the wind - its being moved by the last breath of every American whos ever died defending it.

  As an American that flag holds dear to me. Since I come from a military family. My father and uncles fought during Vietnam war.

  We still have that Flag!! Look up &quot;Star Spangled Banner, Flag, Smithsonian Institution&quot;. It is on display in Washington DC.

  Francis Scott Key was the one who penned, what became, our National Anthem. To let the flag touch the ground, or fall, was a sign of surrender or weakness, and a disgrace to our country. You may have heard some say that we do NOT let the flag touch the ground. That is all true! It is a disgrace to those who fought to keep us free, a disgrace to the flag that represents us, and is a warning to all who try to take it down. If you ever saw a person, usually a non-American, burn or drag the flag, I can assure you that, as a 20 yr disabled veteran of the U.S. Air Force, it will not be taken lightly or forgotten. Getting punched in the face for disgracing our flag is both common, and could happen to anyone.
