  I discovered this book about ten years ago. We use it to choose colour combos for book cover designs. Recently, we needed  to get the front of our building repainted - I chose the mixed colour scheme from this book. The guy doing the painting received loads of job requests because people admired the colour scheme so much.

  ‘HOW DO COLORS BEHAVE NEXT TO EACH OTHER’ is the key.  What is adjacent effects a color and color temperature (warm/cool).

In Japan, hundreds of color combinations known as “kasane no irome” emerged within the court culture of the Heian period (794–1185). They continued to evolve over the centuries, and during the Edo period (1603–1868), new variations were continually created as part of the clothing culture of the townspeople. These combinations refer to the colors of the outer and inner layers of kimono, as well as the colors used in layered clothing. Each combination has its own name and is associated with a particular season or scene. For example, “Hisoku” combines lapis lazuli blue and pale blue, while “Haji-momiji” combines suō red and yellow.

  Great presentation of this artist! his work reminds me of the German Josef Albers (1888-1976) who devoted his life to color theory. In 1963 he published ‘Interaction of Color’ a landmark book on the function and perception of color. And Alber’s wife was a textile artist who adopted his concepts into weaving

  I really enjoyed the video. The information is fantastic, and the editing makes the story feel very immersive.<br>Just two small notes:<br><br>1. The music is a bit loud and overlaps your voice.<br>2. The soundtrack works beautifully for the Europe part, but I missed a similar vibe when you talk about his time in Japan.<br><br>I hope that makes sense.<br>Thanks for the video. I really appreciate it.
