The War of Art has a very important foreword that reads ‘hey this guy might believe some crazy shit, but the principle works just as well if taken as a metaphor.’

so, i have 4 degrees and spent 10 years of my life in higher education. i graduated in 2014 and in all that time, it was these types of discussions that made me choose 4 different bachelor's instead instead of 1 doctorate. (i would have more but i have to work as well 🙃) for me, these conversations were priceless. my degrees were more of the liberal art side but i am just as equally interested in the sciences. my educational path never intersected with perspectives based in the hard sciences like physics or chemistry and because i'm not naturally logical, i struggle with some of the comclusions made here. i think the narrative that interests me most is the philosophy behind physics and a.i. it's so interesting to watch 2 great thinkers/conversationalists genuinely engaged with one another. how much fun is this to watch!!! i owe thousands of dollars to buy access to these conversations during my education and now, they are free!!

One of the weirdest things about artists is how many like or at least admire analytical thinking and vice versa how many analytical people like and admire the arts. It's supremely interesting that humans desire the skills that do not come naturally to them. For example, Richard Feynman was an incredible educator and brilliant physicist but desperately wanted to learn to draw, paint and play an instrument in his later years. People are strange. It's cool.
