  I always felt a lot of pity for Alia. It's harder to argue about her agency compared to Paul due to her being pre-born. So while I also find the idea of her terrifying and she commits atrocities in her brother's name, she was vulnerable and unstable from the very start of her life, something she never had any control over.

  Calling the pre-born abomination reflects an un-examined, and I think, faulty belief: that the training all those Reverend Mothers went through was actually enough to hold the line of self. &nbsp;It wasn&apos;t. &nbsp;The Reverend Mothers weren&apos;t possessed by singular manipulative personalities. &nbsp;They were, however, focused for millennia on a singular goal. &nbsp;A goal that ultimately made little sense (if they wanted power, taking it was a far less exhausting and risky path than trying to breed the ultimate man to manipulate), but they adhered to it with a singular obsession. &nbsp;<br><br>No institution, no matter how full of devoted, passionate, carefully-trained adherents, changes its outlook that little over that many years. &nbsp;Unless, of course, the decision-makers don&apos;t actually change. &nbsp;Unless, of course, the voices of the dead are screaming that this is the most important thing to do, and the only way to do it. &nbsp;Reverend Mothers weren&apos;t possessed by individuals, but by a collective, and that possession made them utterly blind to new possibilities, new options, the path of change. &nbsp;For thousands of years. &nbsp;The pre-born were a warning the Bene Gesserit completely failed to heed.

  So essentially being pre born is being groomed on a whole other level. Like years and centuries of grooming behaviors pre loaded that’s definitely not just scary but rather unfortunate

  Doesn&apos;t Paul say to Mohiam something like &quot;Look in that place you fear to go and you&apos;ll find me looking back at you.&quot; &nbsp;Perhaps Bene Gesserit can access the male line, but don&apos;t because if they do, they become possessed. &nbsp;Part of the training to become a reverend mother would likely be about how to avoid it. &nbsp;Alia didn&apos;t get any such training, of course.<br><br> Another thing that always bugged me is that, in all Jessica&apos;s Bene Gesserit training, she never learned anything about abomination and how it prevent it. &nbsp;If it&apos;s so dangerous, I&apos;d expect they&apos;d have mentioned it to her a some point, especially after she gets to Arrakis, where the spice is ubiquitous. &nbsp;And I&apos;d think the Fremen reverend mother might have checked if she could be pregnant, before it was too late.<br><br> &nbsp;Another thing is why did Jessica wait so long to conceive a daughter. &nbsp;Why would giving Leto the son he wanted prevent her from also giving the Bene Gesserit a half a dozen girls by the time the book begins. &nbsp;Bearing children was kind of her whole purpose in life, after all.

  ok, I like this channel. At a time when everyone is freaking out about how things like youtube, social media, and AI are messing with people&apos;s ability to read, especially long books, your channel shows how reading can be encouraged through these technologies. Good job.

  My thoughts about Other Memory is that whenever a person from Other Memory is recalled, you can&apos;t just simply review their experiences, the recalled person&apos;s mind becomes alive within the recaller&apos;s mind while being recalled, not just their memories, but their thoughts and active thinking as well, with a chance of takeover.<br>Without training, ie how to push that recalled mind away when needed or wanted.<br>Still, in the later books, many Reverend Mothers describe the OM horde screaming at them to do one thing or another in times of peril. that isn&apos;t simple memory alone.<br>I think all Reverend mothers have a touch of schizophrenia on account of this. Shutting out the male side of OM would likely be a required mechanism to preserve a semblance of sanity, though I think there would be PLENTY of females in OM that would happily possess someone.<br>Abomination then, would be anyone subject to OM without the training to maintain a sense of self, and not get lost and drowned in the ocean of OM

  I feel sorry for her. Her story is one of tragedy and ends in tragedy. Almost loke a modern greek storytelling. So excited to see how they protry her in dune 3 as well as annya taylor joys performance of her
