It surprises me sometimes how smart Nick is. He acts goofy all the time, but possesses a lot of knowledge.

While on the miller's planet, you can hear a ticking noise happening every 1.25 seconds. Each tick you hear is a whole day passing on the earth. Great detail. Recently enjoyed this masterpiece in IMAX re-release😍.

The waves on Millers Planet are said to be 4,000 feet tall. That’s taller than the tallest building on earth, the Burj Khalifa which stands at 2,717 feet or 163 floors. This is due to the gravitational force of the black hole Gargantua. The human mind cannot comprehend the sheer size of the waves
Love this film and its deep connection to science!

Edmund probably lived for decades on his planet when you consider that oxigen and water (probably also food sources) exists on it.

 “Fun fact” about spaghettification,
It always happens when close enough the center, but in really big black holes, the event horizon (the “black” part of the black hole, the part where gravity is strong enough that nothing is fast enough to escape) is so far away from the singularity that the stretch between your head and feet isn’t that bad..yet.

Gravity weakens with distance, 4 times weaker every time you’re 2 times farther out, so if the black hole’s huge, you’re still far from the part that rips you up. And by then, you can’t do anything about it since you are already inside that border nothing can escape.

Probably the biggest challenge in physics TODAY is reconciling relativity and quantum mechanics. Basically Einstein's "universal" equations work perfectly for pebbles and planets and galaxies... but they fall apart when you try to apply them to the SMALLEST pieces of the universe, the lowest-level "quantum" components of atoms. If physicists can reconcile the two theories it should reveal a "Theory Of Everything" that explains ALL of physics. So yeah, it was not just psychobabble, it's the biggest puzzle in physics, and it has been for decades.
