  Maybe trying to leave the circus is the main cause of abstraction. Let me explain: Escaping the digital world is physically impossible because all the people are just brainscans, thus the code is attempting to perform &nbsp;an impossible task that breaks the file. The system is essentially being forced to try and manifest their files in the real world (which doesn&apos;t work). It &apos;s like asking a calculator to devide zero by zero. <br><br>The more they attempt to manifest this thought (perhabs through conjoring) the more corrupted their files become. And the more distorted their mind files are, the more irrational they act, until they reach the point of no return and spiral into madness. <br>Once their minds have regressed to the level of an animal, they are no longer able to fathom the idea of escaping. Thus the file can&apos;t be corrupted any further from that point on, leaving them stuck in this glitched state, with only fragments of their memories and personality remaining.

Scratch either blamed his brain tumor for his mental struggles in the circus or genuinely had problems from it considering his brain had a tumor in it when it was scanned.

  IMO, Caine represents the algorithm. Symbolically, I feel Abstraction represents getting overwhelmed and cutting yourself off from that relentless deluge, both digitally and IRL, friends and family included.

  &quot;Completely abandoned C&amp;A headquarters&quot; according to who? Someone&apos;s still paying the bills. Someone&apos;s keeping the various urban explorers from being joined by squatters, and keeping stuff from getting taken. And while everyone else has a reason to be in the building and try out the gadget, there&apos;s no reason given for Gangle&apos;s original to be in the building, and it&apos;s implied she was scanned after the accident. &nbsp;Someone is on the outside keeping the circus running and that same someone&apos;s been /updating the hardware/. Computers from the 90s didn&apos;t have wireless ethernet, Caine can&apos;t hack a wireless network without the hardware to do it. &nbsp;<br><br>I am kinda surprised Team Theorist hasn&apos;t connected those dots, because &quot;Who&apos;s keeping the place going&quot; is pretty fertile theory ground.

The Gangle theory makes sense and I&apos;ve seen it before. I also strongly suspect Zooble was headed that direction before Spudsy&apos;s.
