At 3:48 on the left river bank, there is a trail blaze where some trail fords the river at that point evidently. I'm guessing that's the Old River Horse Trail. I know there are other trail crossings along the river. That blaze and the trail behind it caught my eye and I was curious, so I pulled out my map to see if I could tell roughly what it might be. ORT crosses at a few different points in that part of the valley.
25:10 I've only been kayaking for a couple of years and I have only been on a few rivers more than once, but it always amazes me how much rivers change from one trip to another. The Saline and Little Maumelle rivers are both close to us and we've floated them multiple times. But each time, something significant is has changed in one or more areas.
April this year was my first time ever floating the Buffalo. Had a great time with my wife. The water level was considerably lower than your time on the river. I would also wager, there were more people floating it the day we were there. I don't think we will ever go on a weekend again. Looking at the put in at Steele and also the boats parked at the Hemmed in Hollow trailhead, there were more people and more boats. It's also notable how different the river looks on your trip than what it looked like on our trip, probably just a few weeks different in time. People were parked on both side of the river to get to Hemmed in Hollow on the day we were there and they were fording the river to get to the trailhead. The shrubs on river right there were well above the waterline and people were parked on the gravel below them.

I wish there were camping cabin options along this river. But I suppose it would get too touristy.

I was literally expecting to see bumper boats on the river. lol! Or at least see wall to wall boats bumping into one another. It still looked like there was plenty of space in between everyone not to feel too crowded at least. I imagine that there are quite a few inexperienced people on the river on the weekends that get into trouble. Are there certain times of the year that the Buffalo is too shallow to paddle? By the way, I dig your hat...very patriotic and practical, too!
