  I was so pissed a couple years ago when someone ran a stop sign and totaled my fully paid off 2015 Prius (with only 80k miles on it! I could've driven it another 100k miles or more!). Luckily I was able to find a 2019 Prius with only 45k miles on it, borrowed the difference from the bank of Mom and Dad and they don't charge me interest, but I know not everyone has that privilege.

  My wife and I are in our late 20&apos;s. Both driving the same car since high school. Never had a car payment.

  The opportunity cost of owning a car in America is not what the money generates when its invested. It would be the difference between the cost of ownership and the minimum you could possibly spend on transportation and what that number would generate in the market. Its not like you can just choose to sit at home all day. I live in Idaho, I can’t just uber 30 miles into town everyday.
