I feel most stationery lovers are introverts and the crowd at Itoya can be terribly overwhelming. I was so overstimulated there and didn’t enjoy my time there

Even though you said, there was so much there, and you were only gonna highlight some of the main things, you did a great job of showing a lot!

Loooove your candid commentary as always and the immersive tours. Been to Tokyo XX times and have never been lured by Itoya. It's such a thin, tall building much like Ginza's Uniqlo which I never enjoyed

Tapped on this to say Itoya Ginza is overhyped!! Thanks to its publicity navigating through this thin building is a nightmare! Always!!

That Faber-Castell Colouring Pencil is likely a 120 Polychromos or Albrecht Dürer Watercolour set. Polychromos is a oil base colour. meaning they are buttery smooth when use, it wont easily break, very good for blending and wont fade so easily. if its is an Albrecht Dürer Watercolour set, meaning it has all the benefits of Polychromos, but you can turn it to a watercolor result by a few thin brush of water on top of the colour. hope that makes sense. either Polychromos or Albrecht Dürer Watercolour set are considered as a professional grade colouring pencils, hence the price.

The character was created during war time to bring warmth and peace during very hard times. Symbolism of love caring and acceptance of others as per info on Ai.

Thanks for this.  It's one of my favorite stores. I think a visit requires some planning so as not to get swallowed up! On model scale of 1/12, each inch of the model is equal to 1 foot in regular size.

I was there in 2018, 6 years before my fountain pen and journal journey began. I was there at my wife’s request: she was a Filofax devotee at the time, and wanted me to snap photos of their selection on the shelves. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon, and I was honestly over it by the time my son and I hit the 6th floor. I did marvel over the the price of the high end fountain pens on display, but pretty much everything else was not a draw for me. Now that I’ve fallen down the stationery and pen rabbit hole, I’m sure I’d have a different experience. But I think there are other shops there that would also be a great experience. I don’t think I’d care about the lifestyle floor. Thanks for an honest assessment!

Unless they have changed their policy from my April '25 visit, you can go from floor to floor and buy all the items at the end of your visit. That's what I did.

I loved visiting that location but it's been over hyped and so crowded now.

I’ve been many times -  and a few weeks ago I went back   Meh. You are right.  Perhaps YouTube has made it busier -  but I thought the service was terrible at the fountain pen desks.  (Too busy). I got everything I wanted in other places with more choices … it’s like a museum more than a store now …
