Client Stole My Architectural Plans — Then His Permit Was Rejected

A homeowner took his architect's finished plans and tried to build without him, only to discover that the seal on those drawings could stop the entire permit. Daniel Mercer is a licensed architect who spent weeks designing a major addition for homeowner Richard Hale before Richard abruptly fired him and kept the finished plans. Richard then submitted those drawings himself, expecting the zoning office to approve the project without another architect involved. But the sealed drawings still carried Daniel's professional identity, creating a permit dispute that forced the zoning office to question who was responsible for the plans. As the records were reviewed, Richard's shortcut began turning into a homeowner revenge story with a very different kind of consequence. 📖 Story Chapters: 00:00 The Stolen Plans 00:30 The Seal 01:42 The Client 03:45 The Download 05:33 No Architect 07:23 The Submission 09:06 The Number 10:56 The Documentation 12:28 The Phone Call 14:16 Denied 16:05 The House Waits 🎭 Welcome to CODE & CONSEQUENCE — where contracts, property lines, permits, inspections, and bad decisions eventually meet the consequences they deserve.
