My number one tip for beginning runners is RELAX! If you are tense and nervous, you will not be able to run for long. Relax. Breathe. Enjoy your run and realize that most people aren't willing to put in the work you are. This video is spot on! I am running my first half-marathon race tomorrow, and this is the PERFECT video to get me going! I am DEFINITELY going to watch this again before the race! Thanks again!

This is such a good reminder that more running ≠ better running. The 80/20 + cadence stuff especially clicked for me. Rovex Method also helped me understand how to structure training and progression instead of just adding more mileage.. so I’m definitely saving this one!

things I learned from this video:
1. Train your feet. This includes the soles, shins, and calf complex
2. 80-20. 80% of your runs should be lower intensity but longer, and the other 20% is shorter but higher intensity. This trains your overall cardiovascular fitness.
3. Up that cadence. Higher quantity efficient steps gets you the same distance with less cost, allowing longer runs
4. Be mindful of the shoes you wear. They affect muscle growth, too.

2:46 Using shapes to explain this concept is a great idea, but the shape displayed is a hexagon (6 sides), not an octagon (8 sides). It doesn't change why higher cadence is better, but it is kind of funny 😊
