Enjoyed this. Left in 2001.<br>That's my niece talking about home owning. And I'm one of them, shared with one of my sisters. ❤

Thank you for this episode. Really interesting. My BF worked at Kinleith and was made redundant when they outsourced his teams roles to ABB. He did go back to do the annual maintenance shut downs as his parents live in Tok. We used to go and visit them when I was at Uni and we even contemplated buying a house as they were as cheap as back in 2001 for a decent sized section with a doer upper. One of my best mates from Tok Dad worked at the Mill all of his life. He came over from Rarotonga. He told me that it was almost city status and that he used to have to step off the side walk to let people past. Sending so much aroha for those still living there and trying to survive. I'll watch the Balclutha episode next.

Larry is my family 2nd cousin I think and is a bloody good man. Funnily enough I’m moving from the Bay of Plenty to Tokoroa in a little over a week to pursue a job opportunity, after a quick bit of a browse at accomodation it is so much cheaper than the bay and the sections are all twice the size. Its very central to Taupo, Hamilton and Rotorua and the highways are nice and quiet.. what’s not to like?

Awesome community and I hope that the whanau can find someone to give them an affordable home for them before their rent goes up, wishing them all the best especially with their poor health.

If the numbers do count I trust there is a second part on the positives in Tokoroa, ie the Mayor showing him the new Raukawa housing project and the Stratham park subdivision , plus the rail siding and new commercial subdivision? 😊

you missed a big story line here.... dairy farm conversions saved that town...the money generated on the 40,000 ha converted bought that town out of the hole.... the difference from 2006 to 20 years on now.. is unreal...
