The Rainmaker is my favorite of the Grisham adaotations. Believable story, interesting characters, excellent writing. I loved how J. Lyman "Bruiser" Stone turned out to be sort of an anti-hero in this, corrupt as he was but helping Rudy and Dek to win their case.

The boys father in this movie is Red West. Red West was Elvis Presley’s best friend in junior high and high school. He eventually ended up being one of Elvis Presley’s main bodyguards aka “The Memphis Mafia”. Red West passed away a few years ago.

As an attorney that does trial work, I can tell you there's nothing glamorous about going to trial and the road leading up to trial is even less glamorous. I very often get clients that are anxious to go to court and I always tell them - give it some time - it will pass. You will feel differently. And they almost always do.

Cassie, I’ve been with you since the beginning and I’ve never steered you wrong. Your Dad and husband and brother will confirm that you NEED to watch THE VERDICT. It’s not because it’s a “classic,” or critically acclaimed, or because you’ll “enjoy” it, or any of that nonsense. You just NEED to see it. Period.
