Ppl tend to leave in a hurry when they hear the sound of ammo being jacked into the chamber of a 12 gauge

A reminder… growers and cooks love the remote woods too. Be safe all.

I tell everyone I don’t fear the wild animals at night, I fear the people at night more than animals. Glad you guys made it out and dipped out! Also always have one in the camber ready to go!

I only want to be in an RV where I don't have to go outside to drive away. This is a good reminder to put away the camp chairs etc at night when in these remore spots so you can just get the heck out of there.

Don't let these idiots ruin your camping experience.
Campers invest a lot of money putting their camping rigs and gear together.
The thing to do is, turn the table on them if no law enforcement is near.
Im retired from law enforcement and I encourage folks to keep a 12-gauge, bear spray and sidearms in camp for troublesome bears and the wrong headed criminals.
For the criminal element threatening or showing intent, hearing a pump slide back and forth in the dark, speaks an international language.
Take your campgrounds back folks. They belong to you.

This is why I am always armed when I camp.

Two things I’ve learned about Boondocking. I don’t park at the end of a road where people have to come and turn around or have nowhere else to go. And I try not to camp right at a destination point like water, access or trailhead.

The guys sounded like they were laughing a bit and one said “Sorry!” so that would’ve put my mind at ease that nothing nefarious was happening.

People can be jerks. They do things on purpose to make you feel paranoid and ultimately afraid so that you may possibly leave and that way they can take your spot.

I lived in the Columbia River/ coastal Oregon area for over 25 years. Raised my family there, and in 2 decades I’ve seen that area change so so much. So many homeless drug addicts that spend nights traveling the back roads with nothing better to do but cause chaos for others. It was a different world when I first moved there, and I felt so safe we never even locked our doors.
These days…….. I wouldn’t ever ever leave anything unlocked, and the farther out and more remote you are, the less safe you are.

“It’s not the wildlife you have to worry about…. It’s the humans.”
