I used to do this as a side business while working a full time job. Grew out of my living room and into the garage.... Then into a small warehouse. Ran it all by myself while working a full time job. I stuck to return pallets and items that were smaller. Returns because profit margins were greater. Smaller items because item count per pallet was bigger and they were easier/cheaper to ship thus access to greater amount of customers. Sold everything through ebay. Ended up shutting it down to restart later. The thing with return items is that everything is one off items and every item needs to be inspected tested cleaned then inventoried. Things got tedious and I shut it down. I still have a garage full of product to start later.... Next time I'm going to hire a few people to do the tedious tasks. The sites shown here were the sites that I used. Best time to buy pallets is right after Christmas 😉

I'm a "dumpster-adjacent" diver. I've made thousands reselling stuff that people put out next to (or occasionally on top of) the big trash & recycling bins. I only go to about ten bins, too -- 3 by my condo in N. Austin, and 3 each by friends' apartments central and south. I've picked up vintage furniture, 100 year old China, fine art, celebrity autographs, cast iron 4 poster beds, a 1951 anniversary ed. Singer sewing machine w/ all the accessories in original boxes etc, antiques & collectibles, computers, deejay equipment, flat TVs, PS4s, X-Boxes, iPhones, a popcorn vendor cart, tents, WWII army sleeping bags... that's just off the top of my head.

Lol, I had to chuckle hearing Waco in this video since I live here.

I resell a ton of Costco regular priced grocery stuff in my local grocery store. The insane thing about some of the Costco items is that it’s cheaper than buying off of a wholesale distributor truck.

This was about 14 yeas ago. I bought a mixed lot of new polo shirts of varying sizes. Cost delivered, was about $180, with 77 shirts, about $2.34 per shirt. I selected a dozen that were my size to keep (my standard dress code has been business casual for my entire adult life) Then I turned around and sold about 20 of them for $5-7 each, and when I got tired of having them (about 8 weeks) I donated the remaining ones to Goodwill. As a result I got 12 shirts for under $80. Could I have made money? Yes. But in that case it was functional for years (some of those shirts are still in my regular rotation) and my "cost" per shirt became <$7, the shirts would retail for $12-24 each, so I count that as a win. But I wasn't looking for a return, I wanted to expand my wardrobe without breaking my budget.

I bought a truckload from home depot and the day after it delivered we got hit by a hurricane. I had 30 grills and 2 pallets of water in there... sold them all in 1 day

idea for the not sellable Stanley Tumbler in grey, buy them for 50% off, and use them for personlized laser engraving, so you can sell them for 50-70 bucks each or more "emotion"
