A great review. We sail on the Arvia, from Southampton. I must say that I wouldn't have booked, if I had known that 5000 passengers could be on board. Thank you so much for spending the time to do a thorough review.

Ive just booked a 14 night Caribbean cruise from barbados on the arvia in nov 2027, so this video is very insightful. I have never been on a cruise before, i am also disabled. We knew we needed to book quite abit in advance for an accessible room as they fill up quite quick. We paid £3k pp and we get £600 to spend on the ship. This is for an accessible balcony room. I went in to a travel agents to look at cruise options and kinda felt rushed into booking so ive been second guessing myself 😂 i just hope i have a spot to sunbathe, the dining area isnt too crowded as i have a mobility scooter & i get to see some beautiful places. I dont have super high expectations and while i’ve seen a couple of mixed reviews the majority seems positive. Im excited to start cruising!

I went on Arvia round the med, the sun beds at the adult pool were hard to get unless you were up at 6-6.30am..but that wasn't really an issue for us. Free films on the tv etc which was great. Good sized cabin with balcony as we had an accessible cabin which was beautiful and spacious. I loved cruising on Arvia. Great entertainment, saw Le Voix in the Limelight club which was £25 and included a 3 course meal but so worth it. I didnt go to any speciality restaurants but we ate like kings all holiday. The spa was beautiful too. This cruise is amazing and if the weather is nice, you should have no complaints.

Many thanks for this! We're off on Arvia for a Norwegian fjords cruise next month, and your brilliant video has really whetted our appetite!

I’m a seasoned cruiser and after being on Arvia agree with all you say. My only point is that every cruise line I’ve used always never misses an opportunity to constantly charge for extras, I’ve also noticed that they are increasingly becoming more inventive about charging. Marella are a recent good example having removed fridges from cabins and then charging people to store their meds that require cold storage!

I have just returned from a transatlantic cruise from the Caribbean. It was my first cruise as an adult and I loved it! The ship was at capacity but it didn’t seem it. There were always quiet places onboard and I only found the buffet to be heaving at times, but I rarely had to queue for any of the main dining and those queues were less than 5 minutes. I didn’t experience much upsell, just a couple of people inviting me into shop, but that was it. I didn’t buy the WiFi or drinks packages and survived! I ended up buying an eSIM during the cruise but it still worked out much cheaper. I bought drinks PAYG and a couple of trips, spending a bit over £200 onboard. Fantastic value 16 night trip. I now have the bug and am looking forward to cruising again.

I did my very first cruise on Arvia - her first Caribbean to Southampton transatlantic. I had nothing to compare it to, but I loved it and she's such a stunningly beautiful ship - I so agree with you about the outside space. I went solo and met some great people on board, some of whom I take criuses with still. The Quays is a great venue and I found the food generally was very good. I've since been on other ships and discovered that I prefer the smaller ones like Azura and, my favourite ship, Britannia, which I'm going on in December and again in March for another transatlantic. I just prefer the vibe on smaller ships, as a solo traveller. Iona and Arvia are marketed at families and they are perfect for activity cruises as there is so much to do, but it would take an amazing itinerary at an incredible price to get me back cruising on Arvia. I'm booked on your Balmoral cruise next year to the fjords :-)

This is very helpful. I'm just back from a sailing on the Iona, and your video reminds me of the experience I had, which was largely positive. I was happy enough with the buffet and avoided the upcharging.

I cruised the Eastern Caribbean in January on Arvia and loved the ship. We did have a balcony but I would have been happy with a window as like to get out and about once awake and dressed. We had pre booked a trip for each port (we got a few on the Black Friday sale) and had the drinks package so didn’t have to spend much at all while aboard. The Sindu is a must and would do that again. I was worried about being on board with so many people but was very pleasantly surprised as there is so many places to swim, relax or be entertained. Many smaller ships only have the one pool where all the sunbeds are packed in and you are constantly entertained with music and quizzes and you are in full sun or full shade. On Arvia you have so many pool
Areas including large whirl pools dotted along the decks, adult only areas and except for the morning of the first sea day we were able to find a sunbed in a place we liked. On a day in port the trips were usually half a day and the other half was spent on deck and it did look very much like the brochures with only a few people in and around the pools. There is a booking system on your phone for restaurants but if we were using the main dining areas we would join a queue which moved very quickly if you were happy to share a table of 8 with other passengers. There are usually 3 chances to catch the evening shows and again bookable on the phone. These were all fantastic and the rest of the evening you could bar hop depending on your choice of music or entertainment with all the details on your news letter that is delivered to your cabin. One hint is choose your cabin and pick one that is not far from a stairwell/lift so each time you go back and forth to the cabin you don’t have a long walk once you get to your deck. The staff were all fantastic. In the second evening I went to get a drink in the sky done before my meal and the barman remembered my order from the previous night. We asked for extra milk sachets for the cabin as we do like a cuppa first thing. The whole experience was amazing.
