The boy thinking that giving his blood meant that he would die is based on a real event. And, in fact, it was a boy's KIDNEY that he was asked to donate to his dying sister. He agreed and only AFTER the operation did he ask how long he had left. The little hero!

I’m glad Gilbert was alive at the end. I mean finally they got a break. Both siblings can move on from their pasts together, not just Gracie.

I like the ending where Gilbert was shown to not be dead, it ties into Adam Elliots weird almost looney tunes moments in his films and the theme of hopeful nialism where even if things seem bad it will be okay.

Finally, an old-fashioned Steve reviews video! Dont get me wrong, all your videos are great, but your dark (obscure) animated reviews are why i like your channel.

I like the fact that she became aware that she could have spent the money to see her brother, it helps show a message that fixations can become dangerous, and even prevent you from moving forward. So, i'm torn on the ending.

I loved memoir of a snail. After watching it for the first time, I wrote a letter to Adam Elliot in February 2025 through a university in Melbourne he works with. I forgot about it until I got home one day in April. He sent a personal response and a hand drawn sketch of Pinky before any of the Memoir of a Snail art went up on his gallery. Wish I could write him another letter as thank you. Framed the letter and sketch with frames from a thrift store as Pinkie would have wanted, lol

I actually liked the ending for one major reason: it gave the Pudels their moment. Two adults suffering their whole lives…in the end, they still have each other. Their bond still survived after all of it. It’s a familial love that would survive wars. Gracie and Gilbert earned their happiness.

"what is it with this director and alcoholic parents?" he literally said he draws inspiration from his own life. CONNECT THE DOTS STEVE!!

Gracie not thinking to save her money for her brother instead of spending it on what she believed gave her comfort, and staying poor for it, is so tragically relatable. 15 years of collecting expensive nostalgic figures and rare trinkets, only to realize I missed out on building genuine connections because of always not being able to afford doing anything with anyone. I too ended up selling my collection within past few years, with the intention to move forward and start building relationships.

I get the dark humor regarding dementia. It was so hard to cope, but my grandma became very unfitered towards the end and it would catch me off guard. One of my last happy moments with her is watching House with her, out of no where she said something along the lines of "the things I would do to that man if I was younger" when Hugh Laurie was on screen.

Still makes me laugh. There's just moments where things get absurd or happen out of no where you can't help but giggle about it.
