The SC/ST Act is like WAKF board. Very similar. Both needs to be abolished.

Iit madras gives it back to society in a different way my daughter who is iitm student through structured program of iitm teaches the children in navadoya school for iitm preparation
Unfortunately tamil nadu does not have navadya free schools .so she teaches kids in pondicherry what an irony. Tamil Nadu govt does not allow navodaya school as it always believes it does not want to for the common rules I graduated when we had 73 % reservation now also it's in same range when supereme court ruling is only 50%
No creamy layer is followed in tamilnadu
In anycase no creamy layer is there in school sc st
This is real punishment to the real needy of reservation also same people over generation grab the seats
I am a strong bjp supporter but in this aspenct i ashamed of bjp govt inaction on such areas for 13 years. 4 generations have suffered don't know how many more years

Dear Mr. Iyer..Subjects like the humanities, social sciences, and economics—as well as engineering—are not inherently lacking in demand; rather, the demand vanishes in the midst of our socio-political mess.

As an alumnus of IIT I heard with interest and respect the very balanced views of Gen. Ravishankar; particularly his critique of the faculty of the IIT Humanities departments.

Some of the main issues facing education in India and the issues raised in this video are Merit, Reservation, impact of humanities and social sciences education and degrees within IITs, education in the chatgpt era, promotion of ethics in exams. There are 23 IITs now as compared to 5 IITs when I studied. After 2020 NEP, looks like IITs in Delhi,Madras,Guwahati, Dhanbad offer MA program. Some IITs had PhD program in humanities already in place before the NEP. I think there's agreement that liberal arts education can be there but secondary to technical education as support. If NEP is mandating for IITs to offer integrated liberal arts education for reasons best known to them, then we've to examine whether such education really waters down or negatively impacts technical pursuit. Reservation reform and not elimination is supported. One thing the policy makers should consider is introducing a sunset clause on reservations, definitely for BCs, and a gradual reduction, if not to zero, over a period of time for SC/STs. For reducing the stress on young students, in the chatgpt era, open book exam policies can be considered. Whether humanities education impacts technical education in IITs is a moot point. If it does, either we should stop offering these OR initiate policies that reduce politicization, if that is the concern. (Politics is inherent technical or otherwise a la Elon Musk). How to promote ethics in young minds is to provide pathways for success and inculcating the ideas that promote mental health and prove that a failure or low grades in a subject doesn't mean end of life.

Sc, st students or any other reserve category,,should be given 2 lakh each , divided 4 times from start of school to graduation, to help them arrange tutuion helps,,,BUT BUT no favourism of seats or jobs. Low rankers obviously face pressures of parents for not able to cope up with syllabus, and can take extreme steps. Merit should always be respected to take Our India way forward.🎉

Before clearing the UPSC exam while in college I noticed that all the strikes and protests were being organised by Humanities students. It was a very serious disruption of studies as I had not joined any coaching classes. Classroom attendance was everything to me. Educational institutions need to be insulated from political influence. Strive to make them centres of academic eminence rather than letting them degenerate into centres of unrest.

I retired after working for 31 years as Lecturer(Associate Professor) from a college. I happily joined in that post in 1986 as I was in love with that profession. Looking at the current state of affairs of the generation of students and the helpless government I never would have accepted the job as a teacher however high the payment may be. Teaching such creatures is really a crime. They commit frauds and we are supposed to ignore. What a generation. As as a retired teacher I put my head down for whatever happend to the Professor of IIT.
