One thing I’ve noticed rewatching this, notice how rarely a player whines and complains when a fouls called on them. I miss that.

Bird never takes his eye off of the ball nor does he ever give up on a play

If you didn't know who Bird was and you saw the pass and left handed follow-up at the end of the video you would think, Whoa . . . this guy is special!

A hoops genius on his own level.

Just visually this looks so much more raw than watching anything now.  Huge court, no bright glossy finish, the amount of space the players are given on every side..

Lots of future history here. ISU will make the Final 4 at the end of this season. Purdue will make the Final 4 at the end of the next season. Sichting will end up being a Celtics teammate of Bird’s, and the guy that knocked the loose ball out of bounds to set up the steal against the Pistons. The Warriors in 1980 decided that they needed to go a different direction at the center position, so they traded Robert Parrish and the 5th or 6th pick to the Celtics for the second pick in the draft. The Warriors picked Joe Barry Carroll. The Celtics used the pick they got for a lanky power forward from Minnesota. That completed the Celtics power frontline.
