Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I respect yours, but damn that Kiki placement was diabolical 💀

kikis is one of my favorites, it is probably in my top three with spirited away and howls. i think it is girl coded. it is so relatable to me. the journey of growing up and owning your own creative life and how important that is to keep that alive in this world.

I think part of the magic of these movies is the space they give you to just... breathe in the world. It's the quiet moments with only ambient noise or music, the parts of the movie that just give you time to bask in the glorious artwork and take in the worlds they created. Not a lot of movies, especially animated ones, give you time to soak in the atmosphere of the world and just... exist. For a brief time you leave our crazy fast paced world behind and are transported to worlds full of wonder and magic and love. Each movie is crafted so elegantly... except for that one that shall not be named. Even Earthsea has its moments. My favorites are the movies that have great stories but excel in those quiet moments. Naasicaa, with its glorious strange toxic jungles full of life yet so still. Castle in the Sky, the moment they finally make it to Laputa and you get this moment to take a huge breath and just soak in the wonder of it. Those are the kinds of moments that stick with me the most.

Finally someone giving Porco Rosso the love it deserves. I feel the same way, when thinking with my heart it's always number 1, but thinking objectively it falls behind a few others. Still best Ghibli movie tho.

Finally some appreciation for Porco Rosso!
People just love to overlook this movie bcuz they don't really see any serious conflict in it but it is a very interesting view into Miyazakis perspective on politics.
For me #2
