That is such a cool hidden detail to hide in plain sight. The fact the Milky Way Galaxy, scientifically, would appear as it would during the Forerunner Era of the Galaxy, from the Ark in the present day in 2552 due to how far the Ark is, and how much distance light has to travel.

It makes that visual even more epic with that added context.

I was and always will be in awe hearing the monitor say "3 galactic radii".
The forerunners were not taking any chances with their last resort.

I don't know why, but the array firing sequence -- 04, 01, 03, 05, 02, 06, 07 -- being read aloud like that gave me goosebumps while I visualized it. I'd guess it's something about the inevitability of the cascade once the first ring fires; it moves as a relentless tsunami, nothing can move fast enough to get ahead of the pulse, and nothing behind it is alive. That feels, somehow, so much more violent than all of them popping off at once.

Fun fact about the galaxy in the sky: Because it wasn’t said what the marine was looking at, I didn’t know what I was looking for when I was little. I did however see some explosions that looked a bit like Guilty Spark, and for about a decade assumed that’s what the marine saw too. Those were just a sun and stars to me lol

While we never get any details on it, and Truth could have still been on the start menu, in theory: If the echos of the firing can be detected before you actually hit the button does that mean Chief was in a way destined to stop the firing as the echos were not detected?

I got a couple of comments on this on my Halo 2 video. Apparently a couple people don't like that Silentium made it so that the Greek designation denotes the firing order.

when you're describing the firing of the array, I have the mental image of rain drops falling on a pond

What a mind-blowing concept. To look up and watch as your ancestors are being wiped out. 🤯

Today I read the first chapters from my modern physics course book. Lets just say that stumbling into this video at 2 in the morning right now after a long day studying and working feels.....almost not random.

This ending of the video was the most cruel and beautiful thing I've saw today and probably in this entire week or even more time
