I’m not sure if this is what you’re stuck on regarding weighing yarn for patterns but you can weigh each individual colour yarn ball before you start the Granny square, and weigh the ball after and the subtract the difference this would tell you per colour what you used 😊

I saw someone do random placements of buttons and beads on their white button down and it added so much personality to it! You could do some beading/drawing with buttons, would love to see your creating through that

button wise project: I really love the button me up cardi by Simone Bergh. I don't know if you have thought of it already but I really love the versatility and the creativity behind it. I can't stand any sewing so I don't think I will make a project for myself where I have to sew 40+ buttons but maybe someone else likes it aswell :)
