Ormond doesn’t like odors. Alicent told this to Raenyra. That’s why Raenyra sent them there, to distract Ormond with the odor so the men could take out him and Dareon. (I’m sure I spelled the names wrong)

essos is the name of the continent where daenerys lived with her brother, married khal drogo, and raised her dragons and armies before she sailed to westeros at the end of season 6. think of essos (east) and westeros (west)

19:40 Alyn is Baela's bastard HALF-uncle, not her full uncle. This is not considered "incest" in Westeros. Also, it happens in the book. Odd thing is, a HALF-uncle is genetically equivalent to a first cousin - and first cousin marriage isn't considered "incest" in Westeros, even among the non Targaryens (Tywin Lannister married his first cousin, Ned Stark's own parents were first cousins). You guys watch anime, surely you've seen that first cousin relationships aren't really taboo in Japan? ---- Anyway, it turns out that a HALF uncle is the same number of steps away from you as a first cousin. Your parent has half of your blood/DNA, right? In turn, your uncle/aunt has a quarter/25%, and your first cousin has 12.5% - or 1/8. But a half-uncle is "halved" already: half of 25% from a full uncle is 12.5%. So a half-uncle is equal to a first cousin. While less common, there are examples in the book of even Starks marrying their half-uncles. Apparently they consider it equal to marrying a first cousin, and that's not "incest" in their culture. Alyns is Corlys's bastard son, and thus the half-brother of Corlys's daughter Laena. Baela is the daughter of Laena and Daemon. Thus Alyn is Baela's half-uncle. Because Baela is Laena's eldest daughter, and Laena was Rhaenys's last heir, Baela inherited her grandmother Rhaenys's claim to the Iron Throne. Thus there is an argument that Baela is the real rightful heir ahead of Rhaenyra or Aegon II. Originally the plan was to just marry her to Rhaenyra's heir Jace to unite their claims. But Jace is dead now. This creates...issues. On the other hand, Corlys recently switched plans after the death of Luke, so that now he wants to legitimize Alyn and name HIM heir to House Velaryon....which disinherits Baela and Rhaena (the original plan was to give it to Rhaena as Luke's wife). So...Alyn/Baela solves some other problems. This happens in the books. Well....Baela enters into a relationship with Alyn. But because the book is just an "in universe history book" or source book, it just mentions "by the way they got together". There's no "dialogue". So the basic outline happens, the story idea, but the TV writers had to come up with dialogue for this scene, romance dialogue. Does it work? I don't know. I do know that Abubakar Salim is a good actor and I think he sells it.

This episode was presentable but it's where they piled up scenes that didn't quite fit in the last episode or the next one. I was a little worried when I first saw it at how "uneven" it was, but even this episode has its moments - i.e. if this was "the worst" of the season, it's because the rest are pretty good. But no things snap back into focus in the last 2 episodes after this.

5:51 That's Alysanne Blackwood, "Black Aly" Blackwood. Sister of the Lord Blackwood who died off-screen in the battle at the start of season 2, aunt of his young teenage heir, Lord Ben Blackwood. She's actually a major character in this prequel era AND the next prequel era in the books, so we wish they did more to set her up. But hey, episode cuts.
