What would you add to the list? What's not worth the money these days?

We got rid of Amazon Prime for political reasons. We cut our Amazon purchases by 90% in one year! What started as a values based decision turned out to be super beneficial for the wallet too!

I've used storage units twice, both were due to a move. It was too painful to make those payments, so I made sure to get my things out as soon as it was possible. I really appreciate all of your research that you share.

Well said Madeline,
Beauty salons are very expensive without being questioned.
I cannot agree more with the opinion on eating out and home deliveries.

If someone has one of those under the mattress baby monitors: in order for it to work properly, it needs a firm base. If you have an ikea crib that has slats and mesh base, that might be the problem. We added a sheet of plywood (with holes drilled into it for airflow) and it worked fine, even though it was an ancient angelcare model.

I love these videos, we need to hear such tips again and again and realize the kind of money we have been wasting over things that we may never use. Really appreciate you for sharing this with us. I am currently struggling with my card bills due to impulse online or offline purchases. Focusing on reducing them and realize I spend a lot on grocery too and may be a fixed weekly online order is what I need to do. Also I need to stop going to the lifestyle stores and buy unnecessary tumblers 😂

Love this! Only one i disagree with is the expensive knives. I love our cutco knives. I will say, I use like maybe 8 or so of them and parted with the rest, aside from our steak knives

Totally agree about planners. I was on that side, same intentions but finally, due to inconvenience of taking it with me, I started to use Calendar and app Notes from my cell. So I'm waiting for September to come for getting rid of it without guilt since that planner, ends of that month. 🤦

I agree! There are so many ways companies try to take our money. We have to be smart and really question our purchases, especially subscriptions. I'm very careful about how I spend my money...I mean we worked hard for it so I'm not going to give it away easily. I only go out to eat with friends, or while on vacation. Otherwise it's cheaper, healthier, and even easier to eat at home. When my kids want Chipotle, or pizza, they look up a recipe and make it themselves.

I had a “hidden” subscription for Audible app but it wasn’t in my app, so I emailed them to cancel and ask for a refund bc I had no clue that they were going to charge me after the 3 months deal for $1 a month. And I got an automatic email saying it was cancelled and they gave me a refund and I got to KEEP my audiobook that I used that refund credit for. Now if I could figure out how to pause my Netflix account bc I don’t use it. Also, my parents were paying $400 a month for a storage unit from May 2025 to March of this year (2026) and it was a total of $4,400 cost for those 11 months. Plus an extra fee for storage for a camping RV every month since last September 2025 til a few weeks ago we got it moved out. That’s way too much money to spend on storage.
