  Its about time IWM featured Japanese war crimes. The Japanese government didnt do nearly enough to address the issue: S. Korea is only one country, what about China and the other places in Asia? Also, did Japanese comfort women, their own women, ever get justice & compensation? I highly doubt it

  In the original Thames Television Series, "The World at War", premiering in 1973, during one of the episodes focusing on the Japanese campaigns in the Pacific, a former Japanese soldier being interviewed about his own experiences during WW2, says during one of his cameos that he wants to "thank the Korean girls that worked in the brothels" and was genuine and sincere in his comments, with no realization at all that he had participated in a horrific crime against those women and that it was NOT voluntary.  They had no choice, they were slaves.  Great, honest history that still needs to be told.

  Not only did they carry out the world’s largest sexual slavery operation, the Japanese also carried out the world’s largest and the most cruel human experiments in history. (Unit 731) They arrested resistance fighters from their occupied territories such as Korea and China, and used these captives as lab mice. <br>Some of the horrific things they did include: 1) Observing how much pain can a human body tolerate when being dissected without anaesthesia. 2) Forcing the subjects to a state of full body frostbite and placing them in boiling water, to see how the cellular breakdown happens. 3) Placing the subjects in a vacuum chamber to see how much time is needed before the organs explode. 4) Exposing the subjects to different types of poison and contaminants including Cholera and Anthrax to find the most effective bio weapon for military use. Etc etc… <br>During the trial on war crimes, the Japanese government made a plea bargain offer in which they would provide the Unit 731 data to the US in exchange for their pardon. As a result, most of these war criminals were unpunished, and the data obtained were later used by the US healthcare and pharmaceutical industry for R&amp;D.
