  <b>*UPDATE*</b> Madame Kim passed away on January 28, 2019, making this interview possibly the last sit-down interview of her 92 years on earth.<br> <br>Though she dedicated her life to the cause of helping wartime rape victims, she never received an official apology from the Japanese government. Her story will live on through her fighting spirit. <br><br>Historically, the comfort-women issue is one of the reasons why Korea, and China, among other Asian countries, still have hostile feelings toward to Japan. But we believe that it’s in everyone’s best interest that this issue gets resolved as soon as possible so that we can move forward and work together to solve bigger problems. <br><br>This is only possible, however, when young people become aware of all the facts and history, engage in meaningful conversations about it and take necessary action.   Not only those 8 years, but her whole life was stolen. Her suffering never ended.

  I can&apos;t imagine how hard it must have been for her. She was 14! And those monsters did unfathomable things that ruined her life, all because of their desire for sex. Those people who raped her back then are absolute monsters. She didn&apos;t even recieve a proper apology. May you rest in peace angel, thank you for sharing your story to the world. Fly high

  Her response to the claims of the comfort women being paid prostitutes: &quot;Is that what a 14yr does to make money?&quot; Hit so hard. How could Japan still not take proper responsibility for this after all this time?

  Literally don’t understand what Japan is trying to do here. If they’re trying to keep their honor and pride by denying the atrocities they committed during war, then they’re doing a pretty bad job because they’re looking worse for not admitting their wrongdoings.

  The saddest thing is she only wanted an official apology &amp; history book rewritten, she didn&apos;t even have her wish fulfilled. May you Rip Angel. Prayers for you.

  I&apos;m a Japanese woman in my 20s, and I must admit that I did not have much knowledge about this issue until recently. After watching this video, I was truly shocked and deeply angered. I want to say to this woman that I am grateful she has lived through such unimaginable suffering and had the courage to share her story. I think there are many women who think that they would rather not go on living than be violently assaulted in this way. Her strength and bravery must never be forgotten or wasted.<br>I cannot understand why this topic is not properly taught in the Japanese education system, nor why there still has not been a clear official apology. I really cannot understand it.<br>Furthermore, I feel that the punishments for sexual offenders in Japan are far too lenient. This urgently needs to change. Unless we impose stricter penalties and take these crimes seriously, nothing will truly be different from the past.

  my god, she&apos;s not even asking for money, just an apology and adjustments in historical textbooks... it saddens me so much that there are people out there who are so blinded by power and pride that they refuse to be a good person
