The premiere of La Bola Negra on September 25th is one of the most anticipated of the season, especially given the great reception the film by Los Javis has received from critics and at prestigious festivals like Cannes and San Sebastián. Therefore, both Carlos González and Milo Quiles are eagerly awaiting the arrival of audiences at the cinema. "I'm eager to talk to my friends," González said during her interview on the show "Cuerpos especiales," explaining that, although they've spoken with "many film experts," they want to hear the opinions of the general public, like their "friend María from the village." The film, whose title is borrowed from Federico García Lorca's unfinished novel, written after his assassination by the Nationalist side during the Spanish Civil War, tells the story of three gay men across three different eras in Spain, showing the various challenges they face regarding their identity over time. "That's the central idea of the film: how we've inherited and passed on that dark burden we've all felt at some point," Quifes said. A statement echoed by his co-star, who adds that "this film gives us the energy to live and to talk about things naturally, so we don't keep our burdens bottled up (...) For me, the burden isn't just about one group; everyone carries their own burdens." However, the role that homosexuality plays in the production seeks to represent how "at a collective level, there's a kind of tension stemming from a historical context and far-right ideals that don't allow you to be yourself and don't allow you to express your sexuality openly." A dynamic that González connects to current events, stating that he looks at "my phone and sees tragedies that terrify me about the world we live in," recalling the recent eviction of the elderly Mari Carmen in the center of Madrid, and indicating that the debate surrounding the loss of rights is, in reality, "about humanity and about everyone being able to belong equally." Regarding Lorca's influence on this project, both agreed that they immersed themselves deeply in the Granadan poet's work, purchasing several of his books and recommending Ian Gibson's research because "he does something very beautiful: he brings the poet together with his work. I think it's very important." ------------------------------------------------------- Follow all the latest music news, interviews with artists and bands, acoustic performances, trivia, and all the new releases from Europa FM on our channel. 👉 Subscribe! europafmoficial // CONNECT WITH THE EUROPA FM UNIVERSE // 📱 Take Europa FM with you wherever you go, download our app: iOS: https://apps.apple.com/es/app/europa-...
