This is truly one of the best sequels after a decades long pause ever made. Kept true to the spirit of the original, loving and respecting the source material while setting up its own story.

The writer and director was Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two films.

We get a close up shot of Venkman just before Egon disappears and I think that might've been a subtle nod to the fact that Bill Murray and Harold Ramis were estranged for many years. They had a falling out while working on the movie "Groundhog Day" in the early 90's. Fortunately, they made up shortly before Harold died in 2014.

Pretty damned good, wasn’t it? I was soooo skeptical about this when it first released…yet it turned out to be a very worthy continuation of the story. They actually captured the soul of a Ghostbusters movie; and that’s like trying to catch lightning in a jar.

I grew up in the 90’s to the movies on vhs rewatching them constantly and the cartoon Ghostbusters series; I was tearing up through the whole movie, but when Egon showed up to help his granddaughter I couldn’t hold back the tears. They truly did justice to the legacy of Harold Ramis.

The actor had passed away years ago. They used a body double and CGI. It's why he never talks (at least to me).

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire is similar to a live-action episode of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. (Mini Spoiler) Walter Peck, EPA guy from the first movie. is mayor. The 2016 Ghostbusters was basically a Saturday Night Live spoof with bad CGI.

My take on the unusual ghosts is that a human spirit is energy not confined by flesh thusly a ghost can manifest however it wants. Take Slimer (green hungry ghost); maybe he starved to death so he subconsciously manifested as a gluten with a big mouth and arms to shovel in food. The food does him no good but it’s the psychological trauma from starving to death that compels his behavior.
