3 CD players. I have the Pioneer PD-10AE, I also have the S.M.S.L PL100 connected via coaxial to the S.M.S.L SU-1. Last but not least, I have an older ONN portable AM/FM cd player.

I was looking at CD players several months ago wishing I could find/repurchase a few players I owned decades ago from Yamaha and Technics. I ended up getting the Shanling EC Zero which genuinely sounds great and has more features than I need (but will happily take).

Using a NAD T535 UDP, strictly for CD/SACD playback in my two channel. Looking at possible upgrades though.

I use a Marantz CD6000ose with analoge and digital output.
I like the analoge output far more then the digital output feeding a Schitt Modi multibit DA converter

All CD players have a DAC built into them. All modern integrated amps and receivers have a DAC built into them. A CD player's DAC is in fact expressly fine tuned for it. So despite there being a DAC at the source and another one at the end stage, why would a separate DAC still be necessary? I have never understood this.

Look for: brand name Dvd players that dont have hdmi output. With optical output. So agree with the remote being needed. Also its nice to have: play/skip buttons on the machine too. Currently using a pioneer dvd player (sounds better than the cheap DAC) and a teac dvd player.

When I choose to play a.CD I have two choices:
Sony BDP- S3700 Blu Ray Player, I use the HDMI output to my receiver and yes I have to turn on the TV to see what is playing.
Sony DVP-NS725P CD/DVD Player, This is connected with a Optical output to my receiver and this option does give me it own screen to view tracks and time.

Well it depends. I run my hdcds thru hdcd players, usually Burr and Burton chip. I run my sacds thru Sony ES avr via Sony blu ray player. I also have a 5.1 rca Sony sacd player. I also play thru a Nakamichi 5 postal slot cd player and denon dvd audio 5.1 sacd players. All played thru $100 avr and La Scalas circa 1980s with crossover upgrades and Klipsch RP 8000fs. But I've had good luck playing music from a used $10 Sony dvd or blu ray player and some Andrew jOnes Pioneer bookshelves, and an avr. Under $100 used total. It's all way past good enough for me when I was in a small place. A big space you're going to want bigger speakers, but the same set will work for them too. Nowadays you'll need more than just rca out from a cd player. But you can even just use those if you have the avr or 2 channel inputs. And I have the smsl su1 and it's just a small upgrade from my Denon hdcd burr burton but can't do hdcd.
