Elidibus was such a sentimental person. To become a Primal that idealises hope is fitting for his work.

for me it wasn't the fact he was hollow but the reveal that he was relatively a child a boy that sacrificed himself to be a heart and god to save those he loved only for the burden to break him. His people sacrificed him and he bore that burden with love till it erased him, that's the tragedy that got me.

The brief monologue from Elidibus after his defeat at the top of the crystal tower always stuck with me, that he was able to finally remember what it was he was fighting for. And yet, it was a fleeting moment- freed from his burden of duty.
"The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it."

“The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day… but you are not here to see it.”

Hits with the same force as the “tears in rain” monologue from Bladerunner. Gets me every time. 😭

Elidibus' story was heartbreaking. He gave so much to their cause that it broke him. In the end, he doesn't even remember why he's doing it. He just knows that he has to.

I remember Themis mentioning his parents in a conversation during pandaemonium and something that’s stuck with me is how he spoke of his parents in the way one might talk about their coworkers or an acquaintance. It’s the only real glance we’ve gotten into what (normal) family dynamics may have looked like in the time of the ancients and it’s haunted me.

My speculation of the ancients is that the singular focus on serving the purpose of stewarding the star began as a method of maintaining order in a world where nigh any random person could create disaster using creation magicks, and one symptom of encouraging that purpose was the dissolution of individuality, as well as the devaluing of emotions and family ties. Elidibus, in a way, was the perfect product of this goal; a prodigiously talented youth given a role that supersedes his personal identity before he’s even had time to fully form one, bending his talents to the collective purpose so strongly that he offers all of himself in sacrifice. Effectively every choice he made from the moment of his induction would feel like it carried the weight of the star, easily keeping him and everyone who shared that idea dedicated to the collective star

the sheer altruistic sacrifice is meant to mirror what G'raha is doing as well. that's why you see the say the same line about duty.

Elidbus is a character I genuinely wish we had more interactions with. He always felt like someone who probably bit off more than he could chew and tried his best to make the best options based off who he idolized.
He did make good arguments but honestly, at least for me, felt extremely narrow minded. It was ironic really; the emissary became more like a dictator.

What shows how much Elidibus affected me is that he is the only boss I didn’t want to fight, but that I knew I had to in order to progress. I tried so hard to convince him otherwise, despite knowing it’s futility.

Thank you for making this! Very well done!
Elidibus is my favourite of the unsundered by far, and like you said I feel like he is very underappreciated. It feels great to hear someone that finally does.
