  My dad constantly built giant castles by building a large ring in the sky, then placing lava and water to quickly make cobblestone for the walls. Loved playing on the 360 with my dad dude.

  One of the techniques that I remember the most fondly was always the &quot;leaves on top of a cauldron&quot; plant pot alternative. I still use it to this day :)

  Before flower pots were introduced, we made flower pots by putting a plant on a dirt block and surrounding it with trapdoors or stairs. This is still sometimes done today if you want a bigger flower pot though.

  I think a big thing is that the philosophy around bases has seemingly shifted significantly, towards larger scales and pre-planned structures. You can still get the feel of older Minecraft if you don&apos;t rush to diamond or netherite gear, and don&apos;t come in with a gameplan, and instead let your base evolve organically, adding on rooms and structures at a whim instead of in keeping with some plan you came up with early on. Set a few ground rules for thematic consistency and you get a wonderful blend of old and new.

  Ive never thought of the day were I saw the same building tricks me and my friends used to do to make our server look cool now been called &quot;primitive&quot; and &quot;outdated&quot; man. Back then having a minecart bridge connecting multiple bases around the map was considered top tier stuff :(
