I went to Ted Williams Baseball Camp in the late 70’s. Meeting Ted as a nine year old boy was amazing. I’ll never forget a kid named Irish from New York. Irish was a 13 year old who loved talking about hitting. He always went to this padded telephone pole and practice his swing. One night it’s pouring rain and Irish is outside soaking wet practicing that left handed swing. All of a sudden you see Ted Williams underneath the night lights talking with Irish. Ted stayed over an hour working with him. Ted’s booming voice could be heard by the 50-75 kids watching underneath the recreational lights. Even as a nine year old i knew how special a moment it was. I was telling my parents about how incredible of a moment it was and my Dad said Williams was the greatest hitter of all time. I wish I still had my signed Ted Williams baseball. LOL.

He hit a homerun at his last time at bat. He was a persistent hitter until the bitter end. A true legend and The GOAT.

Ted Williams is America's real John Wayne. He wasn't acting, that's who he was. Bless that man for eternity.

I started watching baseball in 1966. I was 7 and a die hard Yankee fan. Williams retired 6 years earlier, but the name and legend of Ted Williams in baseball was omnipresent. And it still is in 2026.

That’s amazing that Williams served in two wars. First, he’s a flight instructor during World War II and then learned to fly a jet and completed 39 combat missions over North Korea. Joe DiMaggio served a couple years during World War II, where he was stationed in Hawaii, literally playing baseball for the army.
5 years gone….

I will always remember Ted Williams as a veteran combat pilot first, then as the greatest baseball hitter of all time, and as a great, generous human being PERIOD!

PTSD. Even Teddy Baseball wasn’t immune to the horrors of WWII & the Korean War.

I don’t know him, but there’s a virtue in him that made America truly great. We need another Ted Williams.
