I’ve been a certified Marine Tech for 27 years the only outboard that recommended service over 100 our was the ETec 2 stroke. All the other outboard manufacturers recommended 100 hour service or annually. Most dealerships will prop your engine as close to the over, rev point so when you add your gear and passengers you will be able to hit the proper RPM range of your engine without damaging it. To prevent carbon buildup from extended idling or short runs use a recommended decarbonizer like Yamaha’s Ring Free and you too can have an engine that like my F150 Yamaha with over 2500 hours. Flushing and servicing your engine is everything to longevity.
