Hostel, a word that rhymes with borstal (a juvenile detention facility). And in real life, not much different, imo. But I met a guy in Thailand who was fond of staying in hostels there. "But It's only 4 dollars a night!" he'd tell me. That's great for him, but he was in his 20s. I'm way past that, and having my own room and bathroom is a must.

As usual, another great video packed with useful content.

Honestly, i need a bed, bathroom, flushing toilet, electricity, phone, and most importantly peace...don't drink or smoke. Only eat three times a day...lol

It's possible because the average individual vientames income is $300 a month. I'm a chinese who immigrated to the US, and I lived on $1200 a month in the US during graduate school and residency, which most Americans would be screaming "umpossible" when it is very possible when you live like a frugal asian in Asia. π

Loved the pic of Rilay, Tonsai and Pranang Beach. Stayed there for 4 months back in 06 rock climbing. Unreal spot back then.

great stuff - I'm planning a ' drive bye' to visit Vietnam, Thailand and philippeans / short scout mission - to see where I want to land by next year when I should have all the ducks finalized - looking forward to it and appreciate your coverage - I'll hit you up when in Ho Chi. ~R

Your Pho story reminds me of New York, Manhattan. I was around the corner from the Carnegie Deli, where a Rubin sandwich would set you back $20. However, if I turned left and crossed over to 8th, the same sandwich was now $6.50 (splurged an extra $1 to get it as a hoagie ;)

The dude in the background at the end seems very interested in who you are. I love what I've discovered about Vietnam, you get some real freedom and nice people there. I would definitely be a $500/mo man bun kinda guy!
