  This kid finished a novel at 16. He took so much crap he gave up writing. He could have improved and made good work but he got shamed so much he never wrote again. How many people in their 40s go on and on and never finish a book? This kid, writing a complete novel at 16, does not deserve hate. He was a kid.<br><br>edir: wow. a lot of talented writers in the moment rhat could write a booking &nbsp;they felt like ir. . sure. go ahead, but do it on a 70s typewriter with no spell &nbsp;check or grammar check. no online resources. you have to respect that dedication wether the books good or not.

  I have always had a soft spot for writers like this. As someone who wants to be an author myself, I cannot help but put myself in his shoes. He was a kid. With an imagination. And yes his first attempt wasn’t great, but to bully him out of the interest means we never would get to see how he could have improved. We couldn’t love him at his worst, we didn’t deserve him at his best. I will always respect someone who tries and fails, over someone who tries to keep others down for trying at all.

  I&apos;d argue that Empress Theresa is far worse than Eye of Argon. At least Grignr actually had problems and struggles.

  The Eye of Argon is a long shot from the worst thing I&apos;ve ever read. I&apos;m not the first person to say that the story is actually surprisingly well-paced and plotted, and while there is a lot of pretentious purple prose, the vocabulary and range of expression is impressive for a 16 year old. In my opinion, Eye of Argon is what happens when genuine talent collides with a complete lack of practice and experience, as well as a lack of proper editing. It&apos;s the kind of unpolished first attempt that you&apos;d expect to find unpublished in the attic of someone who later in life became an influential writer, decades after his death. Theis simply started publishing too early, and he paid a heavy price for it.
