  Dude. This is a HUGE reason why I never went back to dog training or dog rescue. It's a huge circus of people witch-hunting owners who are genuinely trying to do the right thing most of the time. I saw this most often with people trying to rehome their pets - sometimes, rehoming a pet is the kindest thing you can do. People get sick/become disabled, lose their house or their job, or just have a terrible circumstance come up. It is RARE, in my experience at least, that people want to rehome their animals - it's excruciating most of the time. To top it all off, while these people are being blacklisted and lashed out at, real animal abusers fly under the radar because they know how to look the part. Dress nice, speak professionally, don't be suspicious. It's beyond frustrating. But instead of going after those people and doing more thorough background checks, rescues are too busy fighting and gossiping and pointing fingers. Now don't get me wrong, there are TONS of incredible rescues out there who truly want what's best for the animals, but unfortunately they are being looped in with the not-so-good ones. I'm so glad more people like Taylor are speaking up about this issue, because it really is a problem.

  This crap is why poor Mikayla, from Save a Fox, ended her life. I had no idea the animal community was so horrific. This is why I prefer animals over people, animals dont judge you and treat you like garbage.

  I had a roommate that asked if he could bring an iguana home and I said no. He brought it home anyway and he didn't want to do anything to care for it so I had to for a very short time. I reached out to the iguana community and everyone just bashed me that its enclosure was too small and it needed this and that and that i should have never gotten that animal if i couldn't afford it or if i hadn't done my research. As I agree with all of that, I said no to bringing it home and she had been in my house for less than a whole day at that point! People put all that pressure on me saying that they wish the same was done to me but i literally had no control over the situation. I simply reached out for help and people were just so nasty toward me. I hate that that is the community. Why couldn't we just be educational, not judgmental 🙄

  My zookeeper team is going through this exact issue internally. The full-time keepers have been working for TWO YEARS on how to better co-op with each other, and it really hasn't gone anywhere because the baseline is that animal people work with animals because they can't stand people, but in order to work with animals (in a zoo sense), you HAVE to work with people to get things done. I honestly want to quit working at the zoo because of the people.

  People are OBSESSED with moral policing. My fucking god. Any time I see anyone at all posts anything, it's alwaysssss hit with an "Um, ACTUALLY". People assume everything is negative. Never giving the benefit of the doubt. People are listening to correct, not to understand. This reminds me of the jenna marbles fish situation. I have seen people be extraordinarily judgmental of you. Not only of tofu but referencing your substance use and frankly every single thing you do. I am not judging you, bc same girl. 😅 I feel that people deserve the ability to grow and change. I've been watching your channel since you were a teen! You literally forever always have loved animals and caring for them. I saw a jumping spider reddit post yesterday of someone practically crying because they made an enclosure and were told they were abusive. The spider wasnt even in the enclosure yet, they just needed to police and upset this new owner. She was Already seeking advice from owners but no, they had to verbally kill her for it. It is just ridiculous. I have 5 animals and grew up with like 15 or so? My parents rescued every animal they saw and adopted them out. I feel nervous sometimes even asking questions in certain communities because I don't want to be witch hunted. It's preventing people from seeking correct care due to how toxic the community is. I am so sorry to hear about your doxing, harassment, and stalking. I feel like these people don't even have animals probably honestly. Having a dog is totally different from exotic care. Still, both require compassion. I have over 300 videos recorded myself but I am too scared to post bc of this specifically and exactly. I'm like considering if I should even be on camera because of how aggressive and hateful people are. I've been involved in viral things a few times on other spaces and that exposure was enough thxxxx. 😭

  You'll find these people claiming 'ab*se' on every wholesome animal video online. They get jealous of and spread lies about people who actually HELP animals (SaveaFox, Casual Geographic, etc) It's not uncommon for pet owners to make mistakes. They often don't know what they're doing is harmful because of misconceptions, myths, or false information. Heck, even pet stores contribute to harmful treats or cages given to small animals. Rather than berate someone, give constructive criticism and EXPLAIN why a specific thing is harmful to an animal. Also I see these people constantly going after people who work with animals in zoos or sanctuaries because 'no animal deserves to be caged' completely ignoring that a lot of these animals CAN NOT be released into the wild, and usually the ones that can, are bred to increase a population of a species, or they're nursed to health THEN released. This community shouldn't be so toxic, and yet it is.

  You know what's the really, really sad part? I feel like that's happening in every field in existance. I'm a scientist - a whole other world entirely. And if you exchange "animals" with "science developtment", every. single. word. you're saying applies almost perfectly. It's actually scary. And I keep questioning myself if we're really stuck in a social and monetary hell no matter where you choose to go.
