Tip to drum tuning: use a mallet instead of a stick to decrease the attack and reveal the fundamental better. Especially helpful if you're tuning by ear!

I always lift the mic cord off the reso head opening , that hole has its own frequency and keeping it unobstructed as the air comes out will help capture a really nice sound,

I love that sidestick mic trick, that's a great one. Next time we record drums I think I gotta put a mic on the ride just to grab the appropriate pings.<br><br>And those drums sound soooooooooooooooooooooooo good holy moly. I guess it'd be weird if they didn't, Yamaha makes outstanding drums and those are just about the top rung of the ladder.<br>Great video, very helpful! Enjoyed the track, too. Thanks to you all!
