How am I going to fix this shower?!

Welcome back to the channel on today’s video we’ve got a few jobs to sort out the first one isn’t blocking a kitchen sink waste which is blocked outside so the waist drops into a trapped gully so I’m gonna have to use a Ridgid k912 flex shaft drain on blocker which sorts these trapped gullies right out! Simply stick the flexible hose down into the trap or blocked drain push it until you find resistance and then using a drill which attaches to the stem of the machine spinner app and that should turn up anything in its way and even help it get round corners, do this a few times and you should find that you unblock the blockage really quickly! After we got this job or nice and cleaned up, it was time to get to the next one where I got called out to a customer’s house because they have a shower that is leaking all the way through the ceiling and also is blocked up. I run the shower all on the tiled edges and silicon joints where it normally does leak from but there was no signs of leakage. The trap did fill up so I gave that a quick cleanup and looking underneath I decided to take the waste pipes apart just to make sure that nothing inside was blocking because there was no play on the pipework. I had to come up with an idea where I could use a slip Coupling and that would allow me to stick the two pieces together and slide the coupling over both of them and should make it easier to clean out at a later date. A simple method of checking whether our pipes clear or not especially in waste pipe is to get a little short piece on an elbow or a fitting give it a quick blow down and you can test resistance might not taste the best but if this is a unique clever way of doing things and it even works on boiler condenses so if you find out they’re blocked cut the pipe Get a fit in over the top and give it a good blow. With the waste pipe connected back up I could then test it running the shower and as you can see the waste is running perfectly no blockages so that’s that bit sorted so it’s time to then tackle the shower. Whoever installed this in the past left massive gaps and it wasn’t even watertight from the cover plates to the tile wall so I can only assume that when the customers are having a shower, it’s hitting their body back onto the wall and then dripping down to the ceiling below. after trying to isolate the water the valves never shut off so I had to install some new isolation valves which are fullbore so I can control the water flow. Because these are fed from a water tank above the roof space you could even bang the tanks and risk the bung holding it like I like to do in most cases just shut the water mains off and run all the taps dry the only problem you have with this is that if the water from the above valve doesn’t come through again so the ball valve can be stuck or you can get air locks which can easily be sorted using a wet Vac.  With the new valves on the pipework, I can then turn the water back on and get the water mains live onto the property so the customers can use the rest of their house. Also make me a cup of tea. Upon taking the shower valve apart, it was on the old Z bolt connections. These are probably the worst fixings on showers as they leave joints further back in the wall much rather prefer copper pipes that come straight through and then we have the mountain brackets which bolt on which is what I’m gonna be replacing these for! Unfortunately the Tiler took a hand grenade to this wall and the holes were too big to be able to get fixing using the mountain plates. There was a timber to the left-hand side on the right hand side pipe so after bending two new pieces of pipe to go through the wall, I managed to get a Screwfix and onto the valve and I decided to get as much silicon on and behind the fixings as possible. This also left the left-hand side to be relying on a silicon seal but when it goes off it should be fine. Sometimes in Plumbing, you have no option to do what you have to do specially on maintenance work you’re there just to get over it we’re not there to create too much work and drama for the customers trying to give them a nice affordable option to be able to solve their problems .
