William Marshall is such a fascinating character, called by his contemporaries "The Greatest Knight", served 5 Plantagenet Kings, and Earl of Pembroke.

This was a great showcase for Lincoln and very interesting. I live a 5 minute walk away from the cathedral. I drive past it every day to go to work, I think many of us locals are guilty of taking particularly up hill Lincoln for granted. <br>It’s only occasionally that we happen to be walking the uphill area and you gaze up at the sheer magnitude of the cathedral, it makes us remember how lucky we are. Great video ❤❤❤

As a boy in the 50-60s, Magna Carter was housed in the cathedral and was very accessible to all. As kids we spent many hours at the top of the bell tower looking down on the visitors below, it was said that on a clear day one could see all the way to Boston from the top of that tower.

Scotch army? Bottles of scotch approaching from the west, scary stuff.

So would it have been a French monarchy? What language was spoken at the “English” court at that time? Isn’t it true that Richard the Lionheart didn’t speak a word of English and hardly ever lived in England? I’d say the last English monarchy (or was it more of a Danish one?) ended in 1066; since then, England has had a French monarchy.

So we "would have had a French monarchy' if Louis had succeeded - but we already did - King John was as French as Louis
