The Most comforting scripture passages are those that talk about God's character, he is righteous and just and compassionate and kind. Having had to say goodbye to babies, I can tell you this, The FACT that Our father creater, almighty deliverer, wonderful councillor, our redeemer who lives, our ONLY true friend, his will, his ways and his love and justice and Mercy does NOT put to death an innocent!

There is MUCH comfort in The Word of our creator!

My mom prayed for me all through her pregnancy that God would reveal himself to me. She said she thought she could figure out how to take care of all my physical needs, but felt too inadequate to bring me to a full knowledge of Him. God answered her prayers. I can't remember a single day in my life that I didn't believe and didn't have faith. I was baptized as a baby.
When I was in high school and college I wound up in the Church of Christ with my mom and sister. Baptism was the only means of salvation and only by a profession of faith and baptism by immersion. It was not symbolic to them at all. If they were asked about the thief on the cross they will tell you (or at least they did in the 70's and 80's) that Jesus was joking, being sarcastic, etc. So I was baptized as a teen there.
Later I was in a charismatic church that decided I should probably be baptized again. So Daniel I am right there with you on a total of three.
Now I am in a Lutheran Church LCMS. This was a very good video, and very helpful to me new to the Lutheran Church. I have been a church mutt...Methodist, UCC, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, non-denominational charismatic, Presbyterian PCA, Baptist, United Methodist, PCA again, UMC again, charismatic again, pulled out of that thanks to ministries like yours, Messed Up Church, Fighting for the Faith, Justin Peters and others...then floundering to find a good church for a good while before finding this one.
Thanks for all you do! ❤ Give my love to Robin ❤

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk about this and breaking it down for us. Listening to this has edified me. I was baptized when I was a baby and I'm so grateful to God for allowing my parents to do that. Especially the part of faith, salvational faith and reflexive faith, I knew how gracious God has been to me. Even in moments were I feel that I am lacking, God is at work in my heart, mind and spirit and it is not by my own work. Every day, I am grateful to God for providing me with enough love, faith, hope and even salvation. It is not by my actions but His actions in my life that I can follow God. Thank you so much

In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul is expressing a bit of irony. As important (actually essential) as baptism is, Paul is so insistent that the Corinthians not make heroes out of him and others, that he is "glad" that he did not personally baptize many of them. That does not mean that he devalued baptism. Others baptized them in the name of the Trinity. The New Testament never visualizes an unbaptized Christian.

I am also Lutheran (LCMS), and before going through catechism and really studying scripture, in how it relates to baptism, I used to believe that baptism was a work. I thought it was just nothing more than an outward symbol and that was all it was. But I'm happy to say that I no longer believe that. Thank you for a really great video on this topic!!! ❤️

Infant baptism was a large square pill for me to swallow, initially, because I was baptized in a Baptist church after 'making a decision' for Christ. I well remember the pastor asking me if I believed I was a sinner, if I accepted Christ's death on the cross in payment for my sin, and if I understood that being baptized was the first step in a life of obedience, whereupon answering those questions in the affirmative I was dunked three times in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. But with continued hearing and learning the Word, the Holy Spirit finally brought understanding. Sin afflicts us all-it has nothing to do with capability or intent. The Word tells us that the wages of sin is death. Well, we all die, young, old, unborn, newborn. I especially appreciate your differentiating 'saving faith' from 'reflective faith'. That really helps us understand just how much a gift of God our faith really is; if God is no bigger than our capacity to reflect, we are in deep trouble! Thanks be to God that He does not abandon us to our infirmities!

Disappointing how many people keep making the same error in the comments. If we want to understand baptism, we should go to the Scriptural texts that speak about baptism. It’s really that simple

I Really like the fact that your guest directs The Light and Truth of Christ upon the knosticism, however i wish he would have stretched this to all the vain philosophy too, as the two now seem to be firmly holding hands.

This is why I try to point people to understand the true history of what is and is not "orthodox", to study to show one's approval by God and Not man.

I agree that Baptism most definitely is an action of Faith and that faith is a GIFT from God so that none may boast. No action means no faith, the reason why this is so is because that word "FAITH" is the literal active and constant word "TRUST". Trust requires a response, an action, this is why Philip was transported to the eunich, so that he might understand and TRUST IN.
