  I live by Lake Michigan . It is a giant air conditioner in summer. No matter how hot the day is at night the breeze off the lake cools everything down. I try to keep it clean. We need to value our fresh water more. It’s LIFE!

  What shocked me most was the sheer number of ships and people sunk in the Great Lakes. My maternal grandfather was a mariner on the lakes, and I had no idea how fortunate he was to grow old enough to retire.

  Here in Michigan, you’re never more than 85 miles from a Great Lake. I love taking people to Lake Huron or Lake Michigan for the first time. The look on their face, when they see how massive they really are, is priceless.

  I’ve spent 48 out of 52 years of my life in Minnesota. 6 years in Duluth, and had a cabin in my childhood that was directly  on Lake Superior. The bodies. The bodies surprised me the most. I only enter the water occasionally. Besides being flippin’ freezing, it goes to scary depths just feet from the shoreline and the water is incredibly clear. So, terrifying. Knowing it’s full of corpses? Peace out. Never going in past my toes again.

  I live on Lake Michigan.  The fact that just a few hundred miles away the underwater forest and the Mastodon rock were discovered blows my mind

  I live 10 miles from Lake Michigan. As a kid I was told you can&apos;t build a fishing pier on the Great Lakes. Somewhere around 2012 Whiting Indiana put a permanent pier out into the lake. The previous one had to be pulled back each winter. The first year the new one almost lasted to February. &nbsp;The wind turned out of the North. The Ice chunks destroyed it over night
