  Q is in this precarious position where the earlier the Gospels were written, the less plausible it is that Q could be written and distributed so broadly that Matthew and Luke's authors both had access to it but Mark's author didn't; yet the later the Gospels were written, the harder it is to explain why Q is never preserved or mentioned, unlike Mark, particularly if its contents were sufficiently orthodox. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that Mark, though not as popular, is nevertheless present throughout manuscript finds, yet not so much as a scrap of Q is anywhere. That's quite a disappearing act for something they would've really wanted to use against Marcion.

  What an amazing conversation. I&apos;d heard of Dr Goodacre, but I haven&apos;t had the time to read any of his work, despite hearing about the non-Q theories about the synoptic problem.
