Jack foreshadowing the ending at 8 minutes in with "Yo, can I have a burger?" Peak content here.

Can I just say how refreshing it is to have a film revolving around a murderously insane chef, yet have him not stoop to the cliché of serving human meat?

Fun fact about the burger scene, apparently after shooting it everyone was craving burgers so someone went and got burgers and fries for everyone.

I love to rewatch because when tyler says "I'm the one paying so shut up and eat" he's not just talking about the food he's paying for

I really appreciate that this is one of the few movies to depict sex workers from a labor perspective instead of a titillation one. Margot is a service worker, as Julian picks up immediately, and she is the only one who can (and does) give him something he wants because her skill in her work makes it possible. She loved her job, and it’s not the job itself she has come to dislike when she says she “used to” love it, it’s the people have ruined it for her, much like Julian. She’s as good at her job as he is at his. And thus she survives.

37:57 i love the moment Margot slaps Tyler bc that was Anya Taylor joys idea. She said she was sick of seeing rage in women as a single tear drop down the cheek and she would slap him. It’s such a real moment and shows how important it can be to allow actors to have some say in what their character does.

"It feels very militaristic" "it feels like a cult" that's by design. High-level kitchens operate under the French brigade system, with hierarchy and well-defined roles. The French brigade was created by Auguste Escoffier, he saw that kitchens were always inevitably a mess and wanted to change that, so he applied his military experience to create this system. There's kitchen lingo, there's a code of conduct, looking from the outside it's a mess, but it makes sense to the crew. This movie may not be perfectly accurate but does capture a lot of what it's like to be in the industry

I've always love the detail of the wife telling Margo to go ahead and leave. It was a redeeming sweet motherly last gesture, given that Margo was really inocent in all of this.

A great detail was Slowik giving Margot bread in the form of the burger bun. Earlier he said none of them deserved bread, and yet, Margot got a bun.

One of the things that I love is that they don't go to cannibalism. This is a much smarter film than that.
