Thanks for the video! I like to support small honey producers and recently bought some honey which was extremely smokey. It wasn't something you would want to eat on a sandwich, but I found it tolerable in small amounts in strong coffee. I wondered how it could get to this point. Since then I've seen videos where they completely fill the hives full of tobacco smoke to help control varroa mites which could explain a lot. 🚬🍯🤮

In the early 1960's, my aunt always used cheesecloth to strain the honey. She would always complain about my uncle being too cheap to buy an extractor, and my uncle said, why should I buy an extractor when I have you 😀😀😀

I have a been scraping my honey and comb off the frames for 5 years now and have a great set up , I have a 5 gallon food grade bucket with a spout in the bottom and I put a filter fine mesh over the top that goes into the bucket about 6 inches. I have a plastic holder for the frame that sits on top that is about a third of the way across the top in the frame it’s in and I just scrape all the comb and honey off the plastic frame into the filter over the bucket this, I let it overnight so that all the honey can drain down through the filter and the next day I will bottle from the spout I save the wax and will use it on new frames that I will paint with it to help the bees next year or I will make some candles with it 😊 PS the filter is a fine mesh bag and I do have to duct tape it down to the 5 gallon drum on the outside so it does not fall in !
