The green 1lb propane cylinders are cost-prohibitive. Go for the 20lb tank, an adapter hose and a filter instead. I pay $13 to have 4.5 gallons of propane filled into a 20lb tank that goes on the grill and will last A LOT longer. I get about 80 hours of heat on low and about 35 hours of heat on high from a Mr. Buddy heater. Get the heat powered fan for the heater since it will broadcast the heat through the room.

I'm getting a manual wringer for my birthday. I've got small hands. My grandparents had old pink Maytag washer w/ a wringee. Long as I've got that wringer I'm golden!

I have always maintained and upgraded my old blackout equipment: hurricane lanterns, buddy heaters, propane stoves, alcohol stoves, water purification..... I have upgraded my old generators to trifuel inverter generators. In the last 2 years I installed 37kwh of battery backup and 9kw of solar - enough battery to run my house for two days at conservative usage not critical use. I have a potable water well with electric in the bottom and a hand pump on top. Waste goes to a septic system. If both grid and natural gas go down I am still prepared to get through 5 months of very cold weather on just my old blackout equipment.

Great suggestions for those who live in a house with plenty of space . More challenging for those who live in apartments ( apart from woollen socks and throws / blankets )

Generator ; If you can buy gas I can buy propane . 20 pounders (4 gallons ) and an adapter hose is less mess, last longer , and won't clog anything.

Good video… Just one comment: the Dietz lantern you recommend is made in China, so they are not as good as once were. Check into American or European made lanterns.
